The album I've been waiting for a LONG time.
Can't believe that Paul Stanley is 54 years old and he still sings this way !!!
Every song on this album has a chorus that could a BIG radio hit.
What more can I say... PS ROCKS !!!!!

Hey Sami. What style of music is Pauls solo? Is it anything like the first solo album (which I liked a lot)?
I've been a KISS-fan since 1974...
But Gene WAS my fave..

Yes, pretty amazing enough...
Been waiting since his first solo album, an awesome classic in my ears.
At first I was slightly disappointed, but that's because it wasn't possible to be as good as I expected or wanted it to be. And I missed more guitars. Walls of guitars. Which are not here. A production more like Evanesence or some new stuff was my first thoughts. Although not very unlike what Stanley have sounded in periods earlier.
But the album is great! Mostly very good songs. Written in the same style/way as the Stanley-songs we know & like. In a Desmond Child/Bon Jovi like way. No big surprises. And for a while I didn't like the 3 ballads. Kinda thought the old Stanley had lost his ballad touch. But I was wrong. They grow. And are pretty much a lot like his later ballads with Kiss. Such as Everytime I Look at You, Forever & Nothing Can Keep Me From You.
Actually he recycles a few seconds from all these 'classic' ballads here.
The track Bulletproof are the most Kiss-like track. Very D. Child/B. Jovi, very Kiss around the Hot In The Shade/Hide Your Heart, even the production and guitar sound.
My favorite track on this album right now:
Paul Stanley - Live to win - 03 - Wake Up Screaming
I can't find much new music released these days, that I like a lot. And being a huge Kiss fan since '75, I find this very easy on my ears, although not very challenging. I'll leave that to my man Ginger & The Wildhearts... not disappointing since their debut The Earth vs. The Wildhearts in '93.
(Genes latest solo album I've played ONCE. Never again.)

Hi LeD!
Thank for the quickreview on the album.'
I like early KISS ('73-'80) so I guess the new P.S album will be a dissapointment for me, like you said , no guitars...
Paul has a nice voice but it can get irritating when he recycling his same old melodies....and Gene, well he is not the same Gene I had on my wall when I was 10...
btw is Conny playing with Ginger still?

Well, it's never really easy to know if even Ginger's playing with Ginger.
But I found this:
'To help promote Valor Del Corazon, Ginger created a new band called Ginger and The Sonic Circus with the help of good friends Conny Bloom and ‘Random’ Jon Poole.'
and
'Ginger and the Sonic Circus - who, tonight, count Silver Ginger 5/The Electric Boys guitarist Conny Bloom as one of their number - kick things off at the ridiculously early hour of 8:30, with a set of grown-up, anthemic, bluesy rock that looks to the future and learns from the past.'
I can't find it confirmed he's still in this band.
But the album Ginger and the Sonic Circus - 'Valor Del Corazon' are as expected awesome!!! Playing it now... love it.

Hey LeD.
You said it the best !!
Just a little add :
Paul wrote,( for example) I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU and HEAVEN'S ON FIRE with Mr. Child and that was much earlier than Desmond started to work with Bon Jovi, so... that's why I've been always saying Bon Jovi songs sound more like KISS, rather than the opposite.
But I luv both bands and a good song is always a good song !!!

Totally agree. Been a fan of D. Child since his 2 first albums with Desmond Child & Rouge. Although his 'concept' have been a bit overused & recycled, mainly by Bon Jovi.
rockdetector.com:
'Essentially a singing quartet formed in 1975 after Desmond Child and Maria Vidal had moved to New York from their native Florida in order to attend university. They met the like-minded duo of Diana Grasselli and Myriam Vaille, legend has it that the four rented an apartment in downtown New York City and, with only a piano to work with, devised intricate vocal arrangements to cover up for the lack of substantial instrumentation.
A big hit in the clubs, Child and the girls were signed by Capitol and began working with producer Richard Landis and some of the finest session musicians New York had to offer. Included were guitarists Elliott Randall and David Landau, bass players Neil Jason and John Siegler, drummer Allan Schwartzberg and keyboard player Paul Shaffer. The latter has since achieved fame and fortune as the house band leader on American television chat show host David Letterman's nightly programme.
And Paul Stanley was already a good friend of Desmond, and co-wrote the great track 'The Fight' (P. Stanley / David Landau) on their first album.
(and some of the musicians on their albums turned up on P. Stanleys great first solo album in 1978.)
rockdetector.com:
'Stanley's record naturally boasted numerous guest appearances. Involved would be guitarist Bob Kulick and his future BALANCE band mates Peppy Castro and Doug Katsaros, VANILLA FUDGE drummer CARMINE APPICE, at that juncture in the employ of ROD STEWART, ALICE COOPER drummer Craig Krampf, PIPER drummer Richie Fontana and vocals courtesy of the girls from DESMOND CHILD AND ROUGE.'
And Maria Vidal had a pop/disco hit with 'Body Rock' years later.
Desmond Child And Rouge - 'Desmond Child And Rouge' Capitol Rec. 1978
Desmond Child And Rouge - Runners In The Night' Capitol Rec. 1979
Still got both the vinyls, rare stuff, have ripped & cleaned both to mp3s... ofcourse...
Sorry, got a bit carried away. I'm into this obscure stuff...

House of Lords: World upside Down
Paul Stanley: Live to Win
Papa Roach: Paramour Sessions

Quick report from the show last night: It was so worth the miserable weather and rotten traffic! The opening band, Slunt, was straight-ahead aggressive rock and since I had heard good reviews of them before, I was glad to get the chance to finally see them live. Piece de la resistance, Paul Stanley: the guy is a consummate showman and simply owns the stage. He played a great mix of old solo, new solo and a few Kiss classics (from COTN, Destroyer, etc). If you want a set list, sorry... I don't keep track but I am sure it is posted on other forums around the net. There were a few people decked out in full Paul regalia, (which he kindly acknowledged from the stage). Anyway, the net of it is, if you like Kiss, definitely buy the cd. And if you have a chance to get to a show, do it! You won't be disappointed! BTW, the backing band is amazing.
