My copy arrived in the post today. I admit it was anti-climactic.

And this review is not at all encouraging to people who haven't already gotten it.

Andrew gives a slightly harsher view of the album than I would give it, but it definitely doesn't sound like TNT should sound. I actually like tracks like Now We're Talkin' which is pretty cool and just plain good fun, but only Wild Life and Milestone River truly stand out as great songs. The Beatles influence is sometimes too strong for my liking - June. This sounds outdated and shouldn't be on a TNT record. Fun songs are great - if there aren't too many of them. I'd've preferred the focus to have been on pulling out some killer TNT melodic rock. There's also a few tracks that are good but could have been taken to another level - Are You Blind?, Golden Opportunity, Something Special...

The band are more than welcome to develop their sound - no TNT album has ever sounded quite like the last and I'm extremely appreciative of that fact - but this is a bit too left-field and out-there for a band like TNT. Even on albums like Firefly (which I confess a deep love for) there's still obvious touches of the TNT sound. Some of it's good, there's moments that are very good, but it's not consistent.

I think the main problem for me is that there's a lack of magical hooks here that were practically omnipresent in the previous works of TNT. There just isn't quite enough impact. Ronni doesn't deliver the calibre of incredible riffs I'm quite used to. Tony is a superb vocalist, but doesn't quite do it for me on here like he did for Shy where he kicked ass with his sublime melody and irresistible hooks. This problem could've been rectified with bigger, better choruses.

Sorry boys - it's a good album! But it's not great. I initially like this CD for its freshness - but then I think it doesn't sound anything like something that carries the TNT name. Andrew is a fan of melodic rock, TNT are a band that had previously perfected what melodic rock should be, and this is a big step away from what TNT do best, and can do like no other band. Yes, this band is TNT in name, and is where TNT is at right now, but it's a far cry from previous outings which explains what has disappointed Andrew so much here, and several others to an extent no doubt.

All that said, Milestone River is one of my favourite songs of the year. Absolutely beautiful.

This line-up is an extremely talented one Wink There's more to come from these boys, and I know they can deliver something in future that is not only good, but outstanding.

IMO, I should look back into the OLD territory and take a little bit of what made TNT sound so great in the past while keeping a good footing in the present. That's what made a classic like My Religion so incredible. A perfect balance of old and new.

Looks like the foreign crowd is a bit more harsh than the Norwegian crowd. I gave it a better review than most of these people, and Hawkiiz an even better review. Oh wait, the BBS are the negative bastards. Rolling Eyes

some people they didn't even know for the TH departure!
some people they said that they don't believe in their own ears!!!
and i use the most gentle way to describe what they say.
those people are the thousands who buy a tnt album not here or the bbs.
listen to them... don't mean anything to you? to the band?
to everyone that involved in this? Rolling Eyes
or the easy solution is to start the witchhunting?
o.k. set me on fire for what i have said in the past and for what i say now.
the new territory is an average album with 2-3 good songs.

p.s. before the flames cover my voice one last thing.
i never would post a critic like the critics of the big maze
that they are not so deep in tnt. i don't find it so bad or maybe is my feelings
and the truth is out there.

Andrew and Tony Harnell are good buddies. I haven't even bothered to check the melodicrock page because I knew what was coming. So I am not surprised.

I dont think it's the friendship with Tony that made him write that bad review. I feel i know Andrew's taste after reading hundreds of his review's, and i believe he is honest when he say he dont like the album.

But i have to say that he have given a lot of good albums bad reviews and vica versa. (IMO of course Very Happy )

I love the album SO mutch, but i think TNT will loose some fans with it.
The good part is that i think they will get some new fans as well.
Hell...i even know it. I talked to one man today. He was suprised when i played the album for him. He liked it a lot. And that is a man who hated TNT before Very Happy

bjodahl is right. i think tnt can get new fans and lose old fans... thats what happens when a band changes. i understand everyone who dislike the new album.. because its not very typical tnt, but i also understand the new people that love it. its a very good rock n roll album, but from a "classic tnt" point of view, its not that good i think.

100% wrong! Shocked

Andrew gave "Live in Madrid" a 75% rating.
And he added this comment to his review:
"I'll have to see what Mr. Harnell makes of my comments, but suffice to say, I doubt I'm going to be very popular with the now departed TNT frontman."

You win some, you loose some, that's life.

Spending time to bother about those you lost is a huge waste of time. Caring about those you won is a much better investment.

After reading posts here I see a pattern: The smallest and most lonelly and angry dogs are the ones who barf most .. The puddles !!
